I write songs for a living, and have been doing so since 2004.

I have three favorite guitars, one being a 1964 Gibson Country and Western, which (with the help of a fine luthier) I was able to return to a playable condition after finding it in a state of total disrepair. I love the way it sounds, and I think it likes having me around as well. My second guitar is a 2002 Morgan Rosewood Dreadnaught that found me before I could find it. I ended up writing and recording most of 2011’s Fresh Water In The Salton Sea with her. It was providence, or it was good luck. I personally think they’re both the same thing. My third guitar is a 2004 Gibson J45, which held a starring role in the movie Infamous. Unfortunately, Infamous lost the Hollywood Truman Capote Sweepstakes, and Capote beat it out of the gate. Infamous saw limited release and went to DVD pretty quickly. That being said, the guitar is probably still more famous than I am, even in all of it’s DVD glory. If The Smoking Gun ever publishes an extravagant concert rider with my name on it, rest assured that the requests for seedless watermelon slices and Caciocavallo cheese came from the guitar, and not from me.

I love music. I love hearing songs that are intelligent, thought provoking, and honest. They give me hope, and those who wrote them inspire me.

I recently finished recording my fifth album and writing my first novel, each of which I released in November of 2011. I decided to call them both Fresh Water In The Salton Sea. I think it’s a clever title, but I am often wrong about these types of things. The music on the album and the words in the book both mean a great deal to me.

I live in New Braunfels, Texas with my wife, three dogs, a cat, and a generous school of fish that I try not to forget to feed when my wife assigns me the task (the fish, that is… the dogs let me know if I’m forgetting about them in their unmistakable way). We like it here.

I travel a lot for my job. There’s not much of a point in writing songs if you don’t share them with an audience. Besides, the dogs can’t clap, I can’t hear the fish, and the cat generally doesn’t care about what I do… and everyone needs a little positive affirmation in their lives from time to time. So, I hope to see you at a show.

Drew's last CD and book are amazing! Not many artists write a book to go with their album. You aren't wasting your money on either. Each song is as good as the one before! What a voice and what emotion.

The stories behind the songs are what make this cd cool to me. I saw Drew play an acoustic show once in Kerrville and this cd sounds just like that night did. Humorous banter, great songs, and a unique sound. Haven't caught him since, but this cd makes me want to catch another show soon. Very cool of him and lonestarmusic to make this free for us.

Drew Kennedy is by far one of the most talented singer/songwriters to come along. This acoustic CD captures him at his best, and the stories behind the songs are entertaining. AND, you can download the entire CD for FREE via the offer at LSM. Drew Kennedy, acoustic, and free...it don't get any better!

I downloaded this album for free today and it's awesome! It reminds me of old Robert Earl Keen.

Glad Drew's putting this out. He puts on one of the best acoustic shows anywhere and I'm glad we will now have access to an albums worth of music featuring his acoustic style.

Great original songs that has a total different vibe than the traditional country songs! Well written tunes are hard to find, but this CD has several..My favorite is St. Abliene!! Everyone needs to add this to their collection!

It's always refreshing when an album comes out when you don't have to skip any tracks to get to the one(s) you like. Drew Kennedy gets it right on with his latest attempt at lyric-writing greatness. This album has a lot of what music listeners want; from the "sing-along but not too Top40 poppy" choruses in St Abilene and Buzzing Like a Wire. Then he slows it down for the "I just want to lean back in the couch with a beer in one hand" listeners in Cincinnati and my personal favorite Miles From Anywhere. With this batch of fresh songs written and sung from the soul, Kennedy should gain a magnified prominence with "An Audio Guide..."
