From every corner of the world, stadiums, arenas, theaters, and night clubs, Johnny Solinger has brought the sound of Texas thunder to the masses. As lead singer of the multi-platinum rock band SKID ROW, Johnny has been just about everywhere and seen just about everything…..until now. Things are changing a bit for the rock aficionado. He has added Country recording artist to his SKID ROW frontman duties. Don’t be confused, for this should come as no surprise to anyone who knows the versatile singer. Growing up in the Dallas/Ft Worth metroplex, Johnny was exposed in equal doses to Hard Rock and Country music. He fell in love with both, and has been two timin’ the two of them ever since. He formed the rock band SOLINGER in Dallas, recording 4 independent records and enjoying live performance and radio success throughout the Southwest. In January of 2000, Johnny was invited to join the 14 million album selling rock band SKID ROW, immediately embarking on a nine month tour with rock legends KISS just weeks later. Johnny has said “What a tremendously humbling experience it is to climb up on the stage with artists such as KISS and Ted Nugent, but when you get that chance, it’s sink or swim. I had to dive in head first, or risk getting eaten by the big fish.” To date, Johnny Solinger has toured the world many times over sharing the stage with some of the biggest names in music, including Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, and Kid Rock. He has recorded two records with the band, Thickskin and the latest release entitled Revolutions Per Minute which was shipped in October of 2006 and is in stores worldwide. Johnny has appeared on CNN, MTV, VH1, The Speed Channel, Sirius, and XM satellite radio. Pretty darn unexpected for a self-proclaimed “redneck” from the “Great State of Texas”. While replacing such a well known singer may have seemed an impossible task for some, Johnny was never daunted, and actually considers it an upgrade. 2008 sees Johnny pursuing something that's been running through his veins his whole life...country music. On his debut solo material he proclaims….. "Aside from SKID ROW, I've been recording some country tunes as well (hell, I live in Austin, Texas!), and while it might seem odd to have such drastic tastes in music, it seems perfectly natural to me. I’m also excited about joining a team like Smith Entertainment, who's "Live At Billy Bobs" series includes Texas legends Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard, and who has also helped lead artists like Cross Canadian Ragweed, Pat Green, and Kevin Fowler to national acclaim. When the Skids aren’t touring I plan to be in a honkytonk somewhere dishin’ out my own brand of Texas country” The first single entitled “Too Well To Go To Work” is a raucous anthem that delivers. It’s filled with both sides of Johnny Solinger, Country and Rock. The song is a perfect introduction to country fans who may have never heard of Johnny, or SKID ROW. So watch out for this hybrid, schizophrenic step-child stuffed with equal parts Steve Earle, Hank Jr., and Kid Rock. The live shows feel like a rock n roll explosion, full of authentic, true-blue, Texas style country music for fans of all tastes and ages. If you like country with a kick and tabasco on your breakfast taco, then you're gonna love Johnny Solinger .
