Matt Koger has a passion for songwriting. For the past several years he has been evolving from a hobbiest to a serious songwriter. Drawing on people he's met, stories he's heard and experiences he's had, Koger has crafted authentic windows into Americana. As a husband and father of four, he sought a musical influence for his children, first teaching himself guitar and later finding his way as a songwriter. By day, he's a full-time physician in rural NE Texas. Having a background vocation has allowed him to pursue music for its joy rather than for monetary rewards. An award-winning songwriter, Koger has played for publishers in Texas and Nashville. Blackland is his first CD.
