A Texas Country band emerging from Edinburg, Texas (in the depths of the Rio Grande Valley), Matt and The Herdsmen provide audiences across the state with original music that has captured the attention of radio, industry and listeners. Led by Matt Castillo, who formed The Herdsmen in 2013, this talented foursome has seen massive growth in their short time together!

Entering the scene in December 2014 with the debut album, SMALL TOWN STORIES, they enlisted esteemed radio promoter Dillon Steen to introduce their catchy rhythmic music to radio. Starting with “Dance All Night” (#47), they broke into the Top 50 with their first single on the Texas Regional Radio Report. The second single, "All Gone,” peaked at #88, while “Too Drunk Anyway” hit #46 and landed in the 134th spot with 8,999 spins on the chart’s rundown of the Top 200 songs of 2016.

With such success at radio, it’s no surprise that Matt and The Herdsmen were nominated at the 2016 Texas Regional Radio Music Awards for “New Band/Duo of the Year” alongside such hitmakers as Randy Rogers & Wade Bowen, William Clark Green, Prophets and Outlaws. They also got a nod for “New Single of the Year” (“Dance All Night”) next to Aaron Watson, Josh Ward, Zane Williams, Deryl Dodd.

Popular on the touring circuit, where they provide audiences a high-energy tug-and-pull filled with country twang, soft ballads, and a punch in the face with the Texas/Red Dirt sound, Matt and The Herdsmen have shared the stage with such top tier talent as Toby Keith, Jack Ingram, Randy Rogers band, Casey Donahew band, Kyle Park, William Clark Green, Pat Green, and Mike and The Moonpies. From hallowed dance halls to jam-packed festivals, the band has played many of Texas’ most popular venues including River Road Icehouse (New Braunfels), John T. Floore Country Store (Helotes), House Pasture Cattle Co. (Concan), Whisky Girl Saloon (Ft. Worth), Smokin on the Rio and Watermelon Festival (Alamo).

Going into 2017, Matt and The Herdsman have wrapped the recording of their sophomore album, STILL SANE. Produced by noted industry veteran Dave Percefull of Yellow Dog Studios in Wimberley, Texas, this 11-song project tells a riveting story of the ups and downs of relationships, heartbreak, love, and redemption.

Matt & The Herdsmen have been steadily increasing and establishing a loyal fan base across Texas with currently over 6,000 likes and visits across social media outlets.
