The Houston area has long been fertile for Texas music. Though he now calls San Antonio home, Parke Hedges remembers just how great that influence was. Growing up in La Porte on Galveston Bay, southeast of Houston it was easy to head up to Liberty Hall or Anderson Fair to see the singer/songwriters hone their skills. It was during this time in the late 1970's that he began playing guitar and writing his own songs. This continued as he moved to Texas A&M and on to San Antonio to pursue a professional career. Life got crowded as it does for most people and playing music became less important, but it wasn't lost and Hedges came out with a new collection of songs. On his new cd entitled "Close My Eyes". Recorded at Melody Ranch in San Antonio with his band The Examiners, the songs range from country ballads to jazzy blues. Currently he is juggling a medical practice with working on material for the next project.

Parke is my doctor and has been for 15 years! I had no idea he had such a wonderful singing voice. I was amazed when I came across this album. He is also a wonderful doctor!! My favorite song on the album is Love's Secrets.

Parke Hedges and the Examiners hit the mark with their debut effort! Songs range in style and content from the title track's sultry blues of a lost love to the wistful hope of new love on "All I Know." Veve's "Baby's Gone" is reminiscent of George Harrison. And "True Love" ties the whole thing up in fine country style.
