Roberto Sontoya Ramos was born and raised in Austin, Texas. His musical carpet ride started at the age of 11, since then he's toured 14 countries, recorded 37 album/CD projects and played 43 of the 50 United States. Mr. Ramos is also a graduate (with honors) from the schoool of "hard knocks". His debut CD "Bass Street" is a celebration of good friends, great music and being cool with life. Ramos has played with Little Joe y La Familia, Joe King Carrasco & The Crowns, Keri Leigh & The Blue Devils, W.C. Clark, Alan Haynes, and Archie Bell & The Drells. He has also played with Matt Powell on and off for 6 years. "Ramos is one of the most prolific bassists around. Ramos' compositional bass work is what really shines here, like the cavernous groove under the Benson-ish octaves in "Butterfly Besos" and The Funky Meters-meet-Santana rockfest in "Biggabootie". They're all fair game blues, rock, jazz, funk, and latin." ---Austin Chronicle

Robert ROCKS! He just finished tracks for my new album. All I told him was "have fun and be creative with it". He floored me with his creativity (ALWAYS had "one more idea") and his ability to deliver stunning bass lines!
