Jon Christopher Davis has come full circle. After years of writing songs in Nashville for publishers, Warner Chappell and BMG, Jon returned home to the Lone Star State to make music his way. While in Nashville, the Texas born singer-songwriter penned over twenty cuts for artists like Dolly Parton, Hal Ketchum, Tammy Cochran, Sherrie Austin, Billy Ray Cyrus and Timothy B. Schmit of the Eagles.
He also recorded his own songs for Warner Brothers, Sony and MCA Records. All three of Jon’s artist projects were praised within the Nashville music community. Unfortunately, even with Vince Gill singing back-up, Jon’s music had a hard time fitting into the cookie-cutter world of Nashville’s decision makers.
Through all of this, he became friends as well as collaborators with some of the biggest names in the business. Look at Jon’s body of work over the last ten years and you’ll find names beside his like Rodney Crowell, Radney Foster, Steve Lukather from Toto, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer and founding member of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Stan Lynch, Charlotte Caffey from The Go Go’s as well as hit producers, Dann Huff (Faith Hill, Lonestar, Keith Urban) and David Z. (Prince, Jonny Lang). Not bad for a small town boy from Bonham who married his high school sweetheart.
Within a year of moving back, Jon signed a new record deal with Palo Duro Records. “I’m so excited about this new chapter in my career. No more committees over thinking this stuff. Palo Duro Records has given me the freedom to be who I am. I can’t wait to share this music with the world! It’s been a long time coming,” says Jon.
The first project is slated for a 2005 fall release. In the meantime, Jon is touring this summer and promoting his new LIVE CD.
