Perhaps the best thing about catching Kinky Friedman live is that you never know what to expect. The 66-year-old singer, songwriter, satirist, novelist, activist, politician, and self-proclaimed “Mark Twain of Texas” is about as multi-faceted as they come, and threatens—nay, promises—to pack one hell of a hilarious punch when he takes to the stage at Santa Ynez’s Maverick Saloon (3687 Sagunto St.) this Saturday, August 7, at 8 p.m. Whether you’re an old-school Kinky fan, a new school appreciator, or just generally game for a good time, we recommend a jaunt up to North County to check this one out for yourself.
