This is seriously one of the best albums I have ever heard. If all Texas music was this melodic, driving, and impassioned then the revolution would have already taken over. The lyrics are raw and ripe all at once, the texture draws you right into the center of the music, and the vocals are so urgent you wish you already knew the words so you could shout along. Just absolutely stinkin' marvelous.
RP sounds really good, and the band (whom i HAVE NEVER HEARD BEFOR) sound very countrish-TEXAN.
could someone who knows please tell me if this rp is the same rparker who used to live in alief, texas......strummin his quitar...and putting in reo in his truck.. htat would be awesome, and a big relief!!!
I can't believe they topped the last album, but they did it. Every song is great, and more than a few are amazing. The first time I listened all the key changes seemed a little rough, but they smooth out nicely the second time through. Very gutsy songwriting. And if you haven't seen them live you need to.
My brother, Lance, went to Iraq last year as a civilian. He took Rodney's first CD with him and said it was really neat to see guys from all different nations to bob their heads to one of Rodney's songs. Especially, since most of them did not speak or understand English. This is a great band. They will go far.
I have been waiting a long time for something new and fresh to come out of the Texas music scene and this album is exactly that. Powerful songs like Firefight and I’m Never Getting Married make you want to pick up your air guitar and play along, and slower songs like 11 hours make you sit back and think about those tough times in life. The best part about this album is every song brings something different to the table, no cookie cutter song writing from these guys. This album has it all.
This album is amazing...I really love Firefight, 11 Hours, and Tell Me What It Is are my favorites...but the whole thing rocks!! Way to go RFT for making it the pick of the month for March. Well worth it.
Excellent sound coming from some very talented artists. Buy this CD. Buy one for your friends and family. It has mass appeal. One side note-I don't believe Henry Story is the drummer for this group any longer. Drum credit goes to Gabriel Pearson!
Somehow I got my hands on this record early. It's awesome. You need to own this record. The closest thing I can compare the Dirge to is early Old 97's. The songs are played with passion, the lyrics are well thought out and well crafted. Just buy it.
Unbelievable!! I have heard this album on RFT and it is amazing. There is nothing better out there. Period.
