"Boxcars' is a really good CD. Lots of variety, originality, interesting guitar licks, honest vocals, creative bass lines, and not over-produced. It sounds sincere, like some friends got together to make a CD because they had something to say rather than bills to pay.
Crank up the volume and drive fast!
This is no Texas-alt-country-wannabe group of musicians. Take the complex bass lines of Caleb Hooper, the jazz-honed drumbeats of Jarrod Baker, the Hendrix and jazz inspired guitar licks of Zack Hooper, glue them all together with the soulful singing of Cody Gill, and there is something remarkable about this band--they can rock your socks off! Original songwriting, great melodies, refreshing harmonies, and a great live stage presence. My new favorite Texas band!
the most orignal, rockin piece of work to come out of this whole "tx country" thing. awesome.... awesome... everyone needs this album!
"Boxcars" is a great Y'all-ternative piece of music! Great original songs written by great original songwriters. Heartfelt lyrics, screaming guitar solos, funkiest C&W basslines this side of Bootsy Collins. Live shows are even better: they add a few good covers that aren't the same run-of-the-mill panderings to bozo audiences. Rockin' and a rollin' is what these four guys from Texas do. Buy it, learn it, live it!!!
I keep this cd in my car at all times, there is a song for every mood a girl can have...like tampons, every girl should have this cd!
this cd rocks! not only that, but there are 2 awesome country songs that my girlfriend has fallen in love with. this cd definately has somethin for everybody in it. it's awesome!
these guys kick ass live! and the cd couldn't be better! i didn't believe they actually wrote all those songs til i checked out the back of the cd case! incredible. oh, and aren't two of the guys brothers?
whoa. where did these guys come from?! i saw them rock the balls off a live show and had to pick up a cd. couldn't be more impressed. songs are awesome (really listen to the words, especially on "Gone"), and the gutiar solos and bass lines just make me go nuts. check these guys out, quick.
The Cody Gill Band is one hell of musical talent. I would advise everyone to pick up a copy of "boxcars" and a ticket to the next show. These guys are young and full of musical energy just waiting to be set free. Keep it up guys! I can't get enough!
