A name dropping wannabe yahoo with no substance.
I have been listening to Pat's music for about two years now, but had never gotten to see him live. I finally saw him at the Gypsy Tea Room in Deep Ellum last month and I have to say that it was one of the purest, most incredible concert I have ever been to. Anytime you have the chance to see him in a small venue, do it...and thanks to The Wolf 99.5 for the free tickets.
I was looking forward to this Green/Morrow album simply for the fact that I can't stand the stuff that they write, so I thought maybe I'd enjoy the stuff they wish they wrote. I bought the album, and I really wish I hadn't. Sure, they chose good songs, but I'd much rather listen to the classic sound of John Prine or Rod Taylor sing "Paradise" and Steeler's Wheel sing "Stuck In The Middle With You" than trying to listen to these yahoos pull them off. Green and Morrow always seem to be trying to immitate the attitude of Willie, Jerry Jeff, and Robert Earle Keen, but they are sorely missing the substance that these and other forerunners of Texas Music brought to the table. If this is what Texas has to offer these days, it's no wonder, as "reddirtboy" said, that Oklahoma has to send their best bands down there to remind people of how it's done.
Pat Green is the best thing Texas has. Pat can get you feeling good. He is a Tx Bad Ass.......
Man Pat Green and his Band are great. But The radio and the media will beat any good thing to DEATH and thats a real shame.

5 stars? Shit, more like 10 stars in my opinion. Saw Pat in Gruene Hall last week and it was the best damn show I've ever been to. I like his style and enthusiam. Our Texas boys are gonna show those Nashville pansies what country music is really supposed to be. Pat, if you read this...just keep doin' what you're doin' cause it's kickin' ass and turnin' heads. And also, Pat, if you ever need a back-up singer...I'd love that opportunity...I sing a little here and there.
As a fellow Red Raider I ahve to say that Pat Green KICKS ASS. Every cd and show he does gets better and better. Keep it up Pat and remember "GO, FIGHT, WIN!!!!"
