I believe that my political cohorts are right on this one. The sound is somewhat evocative of "old-time" music but the songwriting still leaves much to be desired. Colin Brooks was better on his own and Ed Jurdi should have gotten a job writing songs for pop acts. Also, I'm not quite sure what to think of a band where all members are sitting down.
I don't like your politics Mr. Perry, but your review of Band Of Heathens is very agreeable to me. "The Band" had much more personality and far more interesting songs than Band of Heathens. The Band broke some new ground while these guys are simply treading on it. As far as The Black Crowes comarison, that is absolutely crazy. Unless you are calling it "The Black Crowes Acoustic Sideshow featuring Valium and Lithium".
They can all play their instruments, but unlike the crowes or the band, their songs are boring, generic, and contrived. For the love of all things decent, stop comparing them to the band, please.
Heard their song "Bumblebee" on the new lonestar sampler.
They're the first band since the Black Crowes who have really reminded me of the good old music like The Band and Leon Russel.
Can't wait to get the whole cd.
These guys are incredible, I saw them at Gruene Hall and at Momos in Austin. Bought their CD and can't quit playing it. These guys could really make it big. All are a talent in their own right.
OMG.... These guys are awesome!! We were in Bandera @ The Cabaret and they are by far one of the best bands I have ever heard!!! I can't wait to see them again.
Helotes, Tx
these guys are awesome. just watch them.
If you haven't heard of the Heathens....you soon will. All star band from Austin. I was @ the recording of this live record, and it made the Heathens my new favorite band in Austin!
I can't wait for this one!!!
