Forest Wayne Allen
Artist Review
If you're lookin' for an artist to get on board with from the "ground floor," I don't think you can do better than Forest Wayne Allen. Forest is one of the Hill Country's fine young songwriters and performers who is currently paying his dues by working the popular venues along the "Americana Expressway" between Austin and San Antonio, and who has recently released a CD project entitled "On the Outskirts of Nowhere" that's WELL worth a listen. Of especial interest are the original songs "7 Day Bender" (the kind of song that makes you want to grab a bar stool and bust it over someone's head!), "Plastic Flowers" (filthy blues licks!), and "Smoke In My Eyes" (a classic "crooner" to put on and take your girlfriend for a drive). Really, "Outskirts" is a winner up and down. Put it on and you'll find yourself singing along. A VERY nice effort produced by FWA himself and recorded at the legendary Cheatham Street Recording Studio in San Marcos. In addition to songwriting and performing, Forest is involved in producing and promoting other artists... and is an all-around good guy. See him now at a San Marcos or New Braunfels venue while you still can... you'll be standing in line to see him soon enough.
