Their Very Best
These guys have been around for a long time. All of their newer stuff is amazing as well as the older. They have been apart and back together. Some have passed away.Too much great stuff to write about. I can see why they are the "Honorary Texans" !

Stacked Deck/ Too Stuffed To Jump
I had "Stacked Deck" on 8 track back in the seventies, looking back they were WAY ahead of their time. There was really no such genre as "Alternative Country" back then; I guess their niche was in the Southern Rock genre, leaning more towards Marshall Tucker and Charlie Daniels than Lynyrd Skynyrd and Molly Hatchet. If you're an Alt Country fan and you're not familiar with them, they're definitely worth checking out.

Stacked Deck/ Too Stuffed To Jump
I bought "Too Stuffed to Jump" on 8-track cartridge back in the 70s and sang most of its songs to myself for 25 years between the time the tape wore out and the album was finally released on CD. Nobody has ever blended country, rock, jazz and blues like this group did. Russell Smith is a master songwriter and the band interprets every song like a group of truly professonal musicians who just love what they are doing. Their effort on "Stacked Deck" might be a notch below, but not by enough to make a difference. This band and these songs are an absolute blast.

Stacked Deck/ Too Stuffed To Jump
There have been very few bands with the range of the Amazing Rhythm Aces. Russell Smith is a wordsmith with heartfelt phrasing and impeccable timimg. Along with Big House and Little Feat, the band I miss the most. I have worn grooves on grooves on the original vinyl. When music was fun.
