Fitzwilly's
Venue Review
Going to A&M and living in Northgate most of my college career lead me to Fitzwilly's a lot of the time. The place has it's own character that is something not to many of Northgate bars have excluding The Dixie Chicken and Dudley's(which is owned by the same person as Fitz's). The difference here is that Fitzwilly's will bring in live music where the Chicken and Dud's will not. Some times the booking for shows at Fitzwilly's seems pretty bland but every now and then they will get a damn good show going. The place is two stories with shows in the winter being upstairs and summer being out back. There is pool tables and shuffle board upstairs and few video games and pinball machines down by the bar. The live shows outside are my favorite because the shows upstairs are pretty crowded even if they move over the pool tables. Most of the acts are going to be A&M singer/songwriters or blues and rock bands making their way from Houston to Austin or Dallas. The local music store owner Brian Lipmann's band Kitty Spankworthy plays here all the time and play Ozzy/GunsnRoses/etc. covers. Fitzwilly's is a favorite for the local bikers in town and has good food that is dirt cheap. Drinks are cheap as well so all in all it is worth a visit if you ever find yourself looking for something to do while in College Station.
