Waylon Live - Expanded - 2 CDs
For fans of Waylon Jennings, this is about the greatest gift that could be offered (unless someone wants to toss those two huge box-sets my way!!). This double cd set consists of two shows, in their entirety, that were the basis for 76's "Waylon Live" release. The original release had only 9 songs or so, and this new expanded version has 42 tracks over the course of two complete shows in '74 in Dallas and Austin. Waylon at the top of his game when the whole Austin/Outlaw thing was beginning to soar. The song selection is incredible, the band kicks ass, and Waylon is in fine voice. This, in my opinion, is the finest representation of Waylon Jennings we have available to us. Get this and know what it was like to be a part of a scene and a time that has no equivalent except for the days when Hank Williams Sr. was rocking country stages all over the U.S. I miss Waylon Jennings. Losing Paycheck and Cash was a very, very sad thing, but I felt a little something more akin to personal loss when Waylon left us. To reflect upon the words of a George Jones song, There will be no one to fill the shoes of the "Outlaw who walks through Jessi's dreams".
