Somebody has to post a review of this thing. My opinion wavers as to whether this is actually better than "Too Long in the Wasteland", but it's certainly pretty close, and far stronger than any of the rest of his albums apart from the first. A buddy of mine worked as a public health inspector in Levelland, Texas, so I understood the song "Levelland" maybe a bit better than the average listener, but even if you've never been to that part of Deepest America, it's a powerful song. "Rachael's Song" still brings tears to my eyes for reasons I still don't understand. "Iolanthe", "Down Across the Delaware", and "One More Winter" are other McMurty character-songs that work very well. Recommended.
