. . . an evocative blend of soul, blues, rock and pop
It seems to have been written in the proverbial stars that Johnny Cooper would dedicate his life to performing and entertaining crowds. Since birth, Cooper has been immersed in music of all kinds, and encouraged to pursue his dream. He started performing music in February 2004 at the age of 15 and turning 24 in September 2012, he will have chalked up almost 9 years of professional touring.
Johnny Cooper has accomplished more than many musicians twice his age. Having recorded two critically-acclaimed, full-length studio albums (and another in the works) and not one, but two live albums under his belt – the total album sales of which have eclipsed 50,000 – Johnny Cooper’s career trajectory cannot be stopped. He recently had two songs included on the soundtrack for the independent movie, “Deep in the Heart,” which also includes tracks from Charlie Daniels, Larry Gatlin, Wade Bowen, and others.
Gifted with a rich emotive voice that illuminates his lyrics, Cooper says that each album “is another chapter of my life, every song is a short snippet of all the things I have encountered over the years, good times... bad times... and everything in between. I believe the music has evolved because I have evolved... the older you get, the less and less you are scared to try new things, branch out and test your limits.”
“My goal is to make you forget about everything else and just cut loose for a couple of hours.” … Johnny Cooper

Hey JCoop I just wanted to let you know that your music is inspiring the forces over in Iraq. Somehow the music got on the Military Radio Access and the guys are listening to your songs while on patrol. Thanks for bringing Texas To You to the troops because it makes them feel at home. I am one grateful wife and your music is inspiring to all of our families both in the US and overseas.

Thanks to Johnny Cooper for recognizing our troops and for the amazing video tribute to our service men and women called "It's You." We in the military appreciate the music from the IGNITION CD because it keeps us going. THANK YOU JOHNNY COOPER AND KEEP THE MUSIC COMING!

I sure hope your mommy doesn't get her panties in a bunch over this or anything but Johnny, you're overrated. Yes, you may have a good voice but your lack of originality in your lyrics and attitude is depressing. Many times has it been said "give him a few years and see how good the songs are" but that doesn't cut it; not when there are songwriters one and two years your senior who have written songs far beyond what you could ever aspire to write (The Dedringers, etc). If you had asked me three years ago I would have told you "Wait until you've a) had some life experiences and b) gotten a grasp of what a good song is before you start a band."

i think its a shame that great bands like jason boland and reckless kelly have johnny cooper open for them. i think he needs to take his music and move up to oklahoma where he can't insult great country music anymore.

Last weekend in two different cities and we and a bunch of my friends that followed Johnny and his band from Oklahoma to Texas. Two sold out shows with people standing outside the doors waiting to get in! Both nights rawked Jcoop and we heard Tulsa and Stillwater kicked too. Good to hear Scott Evans joined you and Steve and Brandon! Good times and thank you for a great weekend.
