Fine, Prof wants "substance" and "point of reference." He might find that these can be more hurtful than just "you suck." Even though I'm a 'young un,' (ad hominem) I hope that my thoughts won't be considered rubbish here.
Let's start with some substance:
1) No mid-range tone to the guitars. Mostly high end, ear damaging (yes, I'm serious) tone. It sounds like 80's techno.
2) Arrogant lead singer - he treats his band like they're crap. They're all nice guys, but nobody likes the lead singer.
3) The drummer is very busy; too many fills. The kick drum and snare need better tuning.
4) The bass player needs to slur his notes together a bit more; it makes for a better country (and rock at times) sound. Legato!
5) The recording is terrible. Its supposed to be live, but it's so obvious that the singer redid his vocals in a studio.
There - is that rubbish from a young un?
I want to know if the last review was created by the James that used to post all the time and took so much crap from everyone? Anymore I consider the reviews that you used to type very insightful compared to the rubbish we read today. It’s rather amusing how this site has created a war zone. The ideas are so very mundane. I have to believe that the review board has been taken over by the young uns. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, they just don’t have a frame of reference. I’ve seen High Life take some serious abuse. I want more information on this band with substance. Three stars for my lack of information. Don't want to throw the curve.
I saw them last night in Victoria nad thought the were great. Keep on playin'!
You guys really really suck...
I saw these guys for the first time at fitzwilly's this weekend and really enjoyed their set. Alot of energy and alot of fun. Go see them live, you'll enjoy it!
Terrible...enough said, both CD and Live. Never take yourself so seriously!
