Willie is a music legend. No one compares. Willie cornered the market on songwriting, vocallizing and his voice / and his band is so flexible he can do anything he chooses to do and do it better than the original. Powerful, Powerful stuff.
With all that Willy has done anyone to criticize is a total A##hole

Great job Willie. Again you have proven that you are timeless and your music has the type of staying power we all should strive to have.I thought "funny anymore" , was vintage Willie regardless of who produced the album. Your disposition to be open to all people and styles is what makes you Willie. All other naysayers can kiss it....Excellent album and keeping up through 85...counting on it from below the cap
It’s a sad day my friends, a sad day. By some abnormal, unexpected, cruel twist in the universe Willie Nelson decided to slap us in the face, and he did it with Kenny Chesney’s tan pedicure hands. Willie Nelson has made this really difficult for me, simply because it’s Willie F*ing Nelson, the man, the legend, the red headed stranger! And he now has collided with Kenny Cheseny, the culprit of killing country music. I’m all for expanding and reaching out for others in experimentation, but this….this is too much for me. I cannot bring myself to sit idly by and pretend that I’m not upset. Willie please tell me this is some cruel joke, and that any day you plan on telling us it was not real, that Kenny Chesney was just a figment of our imagination. My worry will not be gone, until Kenny is
I think futureman was being kind. Chesney proves he has no business producing other artists with this effort and I'm going to chalk this record up to a Willie Nelson "senior moment". The only track I thought was a keeper was "Louisiana".
Willie is best when produced by Willie (see "Spirit"). However, when the song selections fit, and when Willie's unique phrasings (not to mention his guitar work) stand out, it usually results in a pretty good album. That was the case with the Ryan Adams produced "Songbird," but that's not the case here.
Chesney brought horns and dated music arrangements to the table, so it takes all Willie has to even make it listenable (which it is, for the most part).
"Over You Again" stand out, and after a few listens, so does Dave Matthews' "Gravedigger" - just don't listen to the Matthews version beforehand.
The reader Susan dosen't know any thing about good country music.
Maybe if she would go back to KY.An learn to listen, she know about good music.
i thing it is an amazing record with one amazing oversight...the give credit to ray price as the songwriter of "one helluva ride" which my father wrote! his name would be Robert E. Segrest
