Lyle Lovett never disappoints. With all the hoopla about the Dylan Christmas album, it thrills my wife to add another holiday album to her collection with Lyle's Natural Forces. Let me explain...for the past twenty years (as long as we've known each other) my wife has played Lyle's catalog while decorating the Christmas tree and house for the holiday season. I don't remember how this Tradition got started but she never wavers and Natural Forces--as a collection of shared songs and originals--will fit right in.
Bring it on, too bad those corporate suits are still living in their own world.. Thank God I get to live in mine with some LL...
It's Not Big It's Large is going to be a very hard album to top. The only song title I recognized is "Pantry" and like "Up In Indiana" it's on the new album twice. That puzzles me. But I will be at the store on the 20th to get my copy. Can't wait. I doubt this one has a dvd special edition, but it would sure be nice!

Lyle adds a bit of gospel and jazz every now and then to his country roots. "My Baby Don't Tolerate" is an excellent album but I was expecting a bit more after a long lay off between original releases. While the music sounds flawless on CD it is impossible to compare to the live act of Lyle and his Large Band. My favorite album is "Road to Ensenada" but you can't go wrong with any of Lyle's work. Very under appreciated because he doesn't turn out beer guzzling, Texas road trip laden albums twice a year.
Lyle is clearly a steady voice in country music today. His songs encompass wit, humor, and life, wrapped up in a plain spoken delivery. I've been a fan a Lyle's for a while, and recently caught up with him at a sing song concert with 3 other songwriters that will remain nameless. Simply put, Lyle's guitar tone and singing style were such a cut above that I began to wish that it was his own show, so we all didn't have to sit thought the same old crud from the others. Lyle is a class act, and it's no surprise that his latest album "My Baby Don't Tolerate," is well done.
Lyle Lovett is so cute, and I would love to meet him. He is an awesome musician with a lot of talent!! I love his video to-"In My Own Mind".
I have never been a big fan of his, but this song "in my own mind" has completely changed my mind. it's fantastic...good beat, good lyrics, good song altogether. i made a whole cd of just the one song!
