The Drive-by Truckers have proven to be consistent in putting out strong albums, filled with songwriting grit and exceptional musicianship. Their latest effort, The Dirty South, doesn't disappoint. The powerful guitar playing provides the backbone, but the songwriting (primarily by Paterson), depicting the struggles of the rural south, provides the heart. This album represents one of the best bands of the millenium thus far, and leads one to believe that the Drive-by Truckers have a lot more up their sleeve. My only regret is that they didn't deviate that much in lyrical content from their last album, Decoration Day.
Great band! I first heard them about 6 months ago and now they are one of my favorites! If you are new to them, start out with "Decoration Day." You will enjoy it.
Just got the new album. Whew...I needed that.
I have never cried... but good god man... these guys tear it up... need to mix it up with hank III and i will die happy
BEST BAND! No other music has affected me, and moved me as much as the "DBT" does. They are great, they can rock out better than ANYONE, or can make a grown man cry. They put more soul into their music than any other band i have ever heard. Live shows are the best also... they usually play around 3 hours, they call it a rock show.. and that is what you get!!! BEST DAMN BAND IN THE LAND, KINDA MAKES CROSS CANADIAN RAGWEED LOOK AND SOUND WEAK... CCR CAN ONLY DREAM TO BE WHAT THE DRIVE BY TRUCKERS ARE.
"ALSO KNOWN AS THE DBT" CYA AT THE ROCK SHOW!!!!!
