Stumbled backassward into seeing the Gougers last night at the Corner Pub in Conroe. I'd never heard of them (just wasn't ready for the night to end after seeing the Gourds earlier). All I can say is that I was stunned at the quality of the songs and their performance. It was a free show, but I pitched in either $13 or $32 depending on whether I still had that twenty left. Doesn't really matter; they were worth it either way.
EXCELLENT!!!!! Worth a drive. Great fun to watch. A must see band!
I saw the Sidehill Gougers live for the first time at the northgate music festival, upstairs of Fitzwillies in College Station TX. I remember this for two reasons. First, because the excellent heart-warming down home music was perfectly preformed. And second because I remember standing next a rather large mean scotish looking fellow, who began crying mid-way through a song not currently on their CD. This is passionate music played from the heart, and I can't stop listening to it.
wow. wow. wow. this is new as hell to me for such an old-timey sound. the best stuff i've heard in years. maybe ever!
I love this band and this record. The best songwriters in the world!!!
I just saw them for the first time on Sunday night at Tavern in the Gruene. It was a free show, and I actually felt guilty for not having to pay to watch that caliber of talent. What a great live band! I bought the CD, which is amazing, but they played a lot of other great songs that aren’t on there. I’m hoping there’s another CD on the way. Nights like last Sunday are why I love Texas!!!
Unbelievable!! I've played and played Runaway Scrape till I know every song by heart, and I've only had it a week!!! :) Thanks Joanie!
Songs and sounds are incredible!
Keep it up and don't let ANYONE steal your dreams!
Houston loves this band! Songwriting and harmonies like nobody today. If you can't be great at music, why play it? This band has definately earned the right to ask that question...
