A band that can identify with what their music is about is one that deserves great admiration, and this is one of those rare ones. Walker's vision is one that surfaces every decade or so.
Normally 5 stars is a tall order for a new artist, because it leaves them with no room to improve. I think the Gougers might actually, however, be the catalyst for a future 6-star option. Seriously, this is just really well-written and beautifully played music, really emotional throughout. Instead of far-out story songs, they find interesting ways to say everyday things, making it like everything you identify with but nothing you hear.
This is one of the truest ablums I've listened to in a long time! Amazing talent, phenonminal song writing, and the spirit of a music long gone all come together to form this little slice of folk heaven. This is truly a musicians' album. Buy a copy for yourself and everyone you know that has a Pat Green sticker on the back of their car......it may save their soul!
I absolutely love this band! It's been a long time since we've heard a group with this much respect for the music they play.
'Bout damn time is all I can say.
Music has been missing a group like this for approximately 20 years. Great record!
