Playing together since 1992, in various incarnations, The Hosty Duo is Mike "Tic Tac" Byars on the drums and Mike Hosty on the Guitar, vocals and plays the bass with his feet. Sumer of 2002 ,"Tic Tac", Stoney and Travis Linville played together every Monday night at the Deli near the University of Oklahoma working up a college following that spilled into the streets. That date is now occupied by the Damn Quails and Travis Linville who currently carry on the Monday Red Dirt music. Mike Byars helped out Stoney LaRue on the "Red Dirt" album playing drums on several tracks such as "Idabel Blues' and "One Chord Song." Also, Mike Hosty wrote the song "Oklahoma Breakdown" which Stoney took to the top of the Texas Music Charts in 2007. Hosty Duo "II" is the latest and 14th album the Hosty Duo has created. Recorded in a metal barn on Indian Hill Road in a studio called the Mousetrap, the new album criss crosses back and forth americana genre's. The Original recording of "Oklahoma Breakdown" is offered for sale and also available on the Lonestar Music Network is the Hosty Duo's "Golden Country Hits" a collection of Country, Hawaiian and Western tunes that seemed like a good idea at the time. It features a 15 minute "Talkn Song" about a catfish and is a cult favorite. In addition, several songs from their CD catalog have gotten airplay on local stations such as KGOU in Norman, KRXO in Oklahoma City and KRSC in Tulsa even overseas in Macedonia, Spain, Belgium, Brazil and the Netherlands.
