Jay was born in Lubbock and raised in the Texas Hill Country. The roots reflected in his music range from the Merle Haggard and George Jones songs he listened to as a child to the rock and roll of the Allman Brothers and other southern bands of his teens. As a student at the University of North Texas, he was exposed to swing, jazz and many types of avant garde music. Jay's twisted view of what music should be is born of these influences.
Now based in Austin, Jay has released his new CD, "So Help Me" to international critical acclaim. The music combines the best of Americana with classic Texas country and roadhouse rock.
It's a "must hear" for any Texas music fan.
