If you organize Joe's songs in the right order, you'd know the story of his life. Reflective lyrics and minimalist, stripped-down music define his soulful mastery. Driven by the intensity and turbulence of life events, Joe's music shares a story guaranteed to make you feel. Born Leslie Joe Koenig II in Houston, Texas, Joe was quickly learning the delinquent makings of a city kid before his dad swept him away to the rolling green hills of Concrete, Texas. Growing up on a farm, Joe learned passion and hard work from "solid gold" Leslie the First, who was always supportive of his son's artistic endeavors; from tearing a panel of sheetrock off a jobsite wall to preserve Joe's playful doodles, to lining up a gig at Hocheim Baptist Church every Sunday. Following the example set by his older brother Karl, talent and hard work earned Joe a scholarship to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and a new home on the Central Coast of California. Joe Koenig's musical endeavors began in late 1999 when he and his college roommates formed the rock band TORSION. In 2000 they released their first EP and amassed a cult following in San Luis Obispo. After a Texas Tour, three albums and a name change to SNAPHOOK, the group called it quits in 2004. Aching to fulfill his dream of producing his very own solo album, Joe joined the Central Coast music once again, but this time on his own terms. In 2006 Joe began performing his solo acoustic set from San Luis Obispo, California to Goliad, Texas and has since shared the stage with the legendary Leon Russell.

Joe's dad gave me his CD last January and it has not left my CD player!! I love his lyrics, music and what a voice! No CD has ever made me smile as much as this one. What a gift Joe has. No wonder dad is so proud!!

Joe is a good friend of mine, but all biased opinions of mine aside, he is a great musician and singer. He puts his heart and soul into every song, and bares his heart at every performance. I am constantly moved by his songs, no matter how many times I see him play or listen to his cd. Do yourself a favor, buy his cd, and come to his live shows. You won't be sorry.

Somethin’ Concrete is rock solid. From soul (“Woman,” “Colors”) to folk (“Winters,” “Long Time Coming”) to country (“Attack of the Hand,” “Ride it out”), Somethin’ Concrete proves Joe Koenig is no one-trick pony. A very strong debut from the Californian who has not forgotten his Texas roots. I can’t wait to see what this guy does next. Listen if you like: Ben Harper, Ryan Adams, or Ray LaMontagne.
