The live CD by Jon Christopher Davis is a great mix of music. From his catchy version of Johnny Cash's "Folsom Prison Blues" to the heart-wrenching lyrics of "If I Could Only Fly," this is a must have CD. JCD is an artist with lots of soul.
This is a great record. JCD not only has a wonderful voice, but he writes thoughtful and meaningful lyrics - with a few amusing ones thrown into the mix! The sound is pure and has lots of feeling.
This is a super CD, especially if you like great lyrics and melodies. Lots of rock influence, too. I especially like "Cosmic Joke," "The Bottom Line" and "She Don't Know She's Lonely" for some great steel guitar playin'.
This 5 star rating is not on his CD's, but his music together. I saw this guy last night headlining for Radney Foster in Bonham @ Legacy Ridge Country Club. He is gonna be big. Your gonna know this guy, you will see his CD's being compared to Johnny Cash, Waylon, Radney, P Green, Randy Rogers and many others. Him singing the song Texas in 1880 with Radney was better then Pat Green singing it with him.
This is a great record! JCD has an honest Texas sound. If you like good music you should own this one!
A friend from TX turned me on to Jon Christopher Davis. Great stuff!
The Live CD transports me straight to Gruene Hall. I love it! Nice variety between the full band and solo acoustic songs.
Heard at Gruene Hall in 2004 and hired for a private party in Granbury Texas. Once again, they were awesome. Music was great and the whole band were very entertaining!
Whoever wrote the small-minded review on 8/3/05 is a complete idiot. Obviously, you know nothing about singer-songwriters. Go back to drinking your cheap beer. Leave the wine for us!
As far as I'm concerned, he's got the best voice in TX music today.
He's cut from the same cloth as Radney Foster and Rodney Crowell.
This guy will be around for the next 20 years.
I first saw Jon at Gruene Hall in August '04 where he opened for Radney Foster. At the time, I drove about 300 miles to see Radney - I didn't know or care who was opening for him. After seeing Jon that night, I would have made that trip to see him. I live in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and I make plans to go to his shows every time I can. Not only is he a very talented singer/songwriter, but I always know that I will have a good time with his laid-back demeanor setting the tone.
