This dynamic band features an all-star cast of Texas musicians, led by singer/songwriter Lucky Tomblin, that takes the listener on a musical tour of the Lone Star State, where honky-tonk, blues, rock 'n' roll, Tex-Mex, blue-eyed soul and traditional country music get together for one big Texas celebration! Former San Antonio-based Lucky Tomblin was a regional favorite early in his career and a compadre of Doug Sahm, having opened for the late Sir Douglas on one of his Last Real Texas Blues Band tours. The rest of the players in the band reads like a "who's who" of Austin's A-list and includes pianist Earl Poole Ball (Johnny Cash, Gram Parsons, Buck Owens, Byrds), steel guitar and Dobro player Cindy Cashdollar (Asleep at the Wheel, Bob Dylan, Dwight Yoakam, Beausoleil), guitarist Redd Volkaert (Merle Haggard, Dale Watson, Ray Price) and bassist Sarah Brown (Buddy Guy, Albert Collins, Dr. John, Billy Bragg). Play this one loud and throw some sawdust on the floor!

I went to see these guys a few weeks ago when they played at Cheatam St. Warehouse in San Marcos. I have never been so impressed by the quality of the individual players in the band. Every person in the band is extremely talented, but as a whole band they are able to give a performance like no other. Several times during the concert different members of the band took over on vocals and each one was incredible to listen to. I later found out that many of the individual band members are regarded as being among the very best in all of Texas Music for their respective instruments. This also shows through in the band's music. The vocals are clean and crisp, the guitars are incredible (best guitar work i've heard since Stevie Ray Vaughn), the keyboard always delivers a strong, sharp sound, while the bass keeps pounding steadily like a steam train and the drums keep a powerful rhythm. They are able to play blues, fast country, slow-dance, country, traditional honky-tonk country, and so many more styles of roots music. I recommend this group to anyone who wants authentic, classic country music.
