Mike Hays first began writing and playing music while attending high school in Arlington, Texas. In 2001, Mike relocated to Nacogdoches, Texas where he attended Stephen F. Austin State University. After playing open mic nights there for almost a year and a half, Mike began performing his solo act at a local restaurant. In early 2004, Mike put together the original Mike Hays Band which was together until late 2005. During this time Mike shared the stage with many great Texas artists such as Jason Boland, Shy Blakeman, and Randy Rogers Band just to name a few. Everything you need to know about Texas Music is right here. No major label, no alcohol endorsement, no remixed studio top 40 regurgitation, just pure, straight from the blood and guts, Texas Music. Raw, Loud, Rowdy, and True to the things that matter in life. Good friends, cold beer, and great music. Mike Hays is a true product of his Americana / Texas influences such as Roger Creager, Jason Boland, and Robert Earl Keen. These roots can be heard in every song that Mike Hays writes, but with his own East Texas flavor. Mike now lives back in Arlington, TX where he is putting together a new band. Until then you can bet Mike will find his way to a stage somewhere to do what he loves most, play great Texas Music

It's got HEART. Enough variety to encourage repeat listening. I'd love to see a video!

Wow, real country music and guest artists to boot. NO Ken & Barbie Nashvegas clone here, you get the real deal, like back in the day... The Mike Ireland duet with Heather Myles is outstanding, duet with Elena Skye on the Cash's "Jackson" has old time grit and determination. Don't miss this artist's only co-write, "Long Legs and Long Necks", a funny look at what you shouldn't do but probably will. This is real country, well balanced between ballads and up tempo and Mike does a fine job covering Dale Watson's "It's Over Again" title track. Buy this one and hope he puts out another, there's not enough of this good kind of country around.
