Al Barlow is a Texas songwriter that the whole state needs to hear. And he would be a prime candidate to represent Texas for the whole country. He's a master songwriter who uses humor to shine a compassionate light on everything from a split in a church congregation to a little kid with a bursting bladder, trapped in the back seat of a car speeding down the highway. There's a lot of drugstore cowboys and Billy Joe Shaver wannabe's out there in the Texas music scene. Al doesn't put on any airs. He hits home, though, letting us see ourselves for who we really are. Not cowboys out on the range or heroes in some honky tonk; but the "average" guy or gal gossiping in the office, shaking the preacher's hand after church, looking forward to being retired and sick of hearing about everything that's not good or right for us in this techno-green age. Don't be fooled by Al's downhome East Texas accent and colorful country-fried expressions. Underneath all that and the good-natured humor are layers of rich, pertinent obeservations and insights into human nature.

something from him.He is a master of his craft and one hell of a nice guy.I'm proud to call him a friend and I learn something each time I see him perform. I could listen for now on and never tire of his music.He's the "real deal" !!!!!
Al is a hidden Hill Country Treasure. He has been around for years and everyone in the Hill Country loves "Barlow". Years ago, he did song swaps at Cheatham Street with Todd Snider and Terri Hendrix when they were just getting started.
