Unsung
Album Review
I caught Slaid's show at the Bend Studio in Dallas May 2006, and thought it was simply the finest performance of a Texas singer/song writer I've experienced. Slaid possesses a unique ability to capture a spot of time, to transport his audience into the immediacy of a moment, to depict lives and characters and places vividly like a portrait painter. There is a forthrightness to his music that connects you to the frontier of Texas music.

You know a cd is great when your nine year old and your 12 year old know all the words not only to one cd of Slaid Cleaves but two cds of his. We all loved Brokedown and Wishbones and now looking forward to Unsung.

Broke Down
Album Review
I have 5 favorite recordings: John Kay's first two solo albums, Bob Dylan's Blood on the tracks, Gregg Allman's Laid Back, and Slaid Cleaves' Broke Down. Wishbones may be the sixth but it is new to me.

We have got a lot of good reviews kicking. Some negative, but more over correct. Remember, throw something positive! My thought: You have to listen to Slaid Cleves. His lyrics are so good. Man, I like this guys stuff. All of it! And he's the coolest person at his shows. Such a nice guy. Story lines on some of the songs are so strong and emotional. But in a really cool, fun kind of way. This is true even if your a numbskull. Wait, even if you are not the songs will keep you coming back for more. I can say with complete truth, if you take the time to listen you will not be critical of it. Excellent reviews would be forthcoming. Worst, you might say that it is not as upbeat as some of the mindless artists. But i'm a fan of so many different folks. Get the message though, you will love it. Slaid is one of the few that I would call amazing. Mention to any fan Sandy Cray! Which CD to buy? Any! Thats how good he is. Totally heartfelt music. TK/BEN?

Everyone has the right idea. Slaid is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. He treats his fans like gold. And it's not just him, his wife is at the shows and she is equally friendly and beautiful as well. Can't wait to see you perform again. Props to Wishbone, it's another work of art. See ya down at Floores soon.

"Broke Down" is one of the most enchanting CD's I have had the pleasure of listening to. Slaid Cleaves story-telling abilities shine on this CD. "Breakfast in Hell" and "Lydia" have you wondering if the lyrics are a masterful way of conveying "true life experiences" through the eyes of this remarkable muscian.
