I have had the opportunity to see Monte play on several occasions and have even lost a fake ID just trying to get into one of his shows in Austin. But I'll tell you what, I'd do it again in a second just to hear this guy play. Five stars ain't enough.
Anybody who has rated Monte less than 5 stars... has never seen him live. Furthermore, as I think about it... also ought to be taken out back and shot.
I heard one of Monte's CD last night for the first time. Wow! The guy is amazing. I decided to see if he was on Lonestar and wondered what kind of bad review would even be posted as mentioned in one review... so I looked. Obviously, it was from a person that limits their music to one small part of a huge genre. Luckily, I've expanded my interest and have learned to delve deeper into the music arena due to some great musician friends of mine; otherwise, I would miss finding hidden treasures such as the talent of this man. Looking forward to the day when I can see him live.
Monte Montgomery, dont even get me started, the man is the best guitar player i have ever seen in my life, i've probably seen Monte a good 22 times. His song writting blows my mind, and his guitar playing just lights up the crowd, the energy moves swiftly thoughout everyone! he has kept me motivated with my guitar playing. I think that anybody that criticizes his music has never seen him live...if anyone ever gets the chance to see this "Guitar God" take advantage of it...his lyrical ballads, and breath taking, mind boggling guitar playing would change your whole music perspective!!!!
one of the best guitarists i've ever heard
I can't believe nobody's written a review about Monte in 5 months. Let me just say that Monte is quite possibly the greatest guitar player alive in Texas right now. What a badass.
Monte kicks butt, he plays like no one i have ever seen,
keep playin monte!
my first experience with monte came from a friend when i heard "when will i" the live recording. after that i bought '1st and repair' and loved every minute of it. i saw him in concert for the first time a few weeks ago on 12/21 at ridglea theatre and was blown away by the unique fret work and superb sound. you just don't find that many naturally talented musicians any more with such a unique sound. even though 'wishing well' is a change from the original stuff it shows once again a unique style that is inviting to the ears.
Saw Monte for the first time last night (12/22/01) at the Engine Room in Houston - The man is phenomenal! Mere mortals can't make guitars do what Monte does with a simple acoustic and a "stack of marshals." The "Guitar God" lable is earned. By far the best live show I've seen in years. Catch this act whenever, wherever you can!
