Ryan Turner
Artist Review
I disagree that Ryan Turner is "Nashville". He has always stayed true to himself. Ryan writes his own songs and loves what he does. He is not in it for the fame or money; he just wants to play his music for his fans and have a good time. Isnt that what Texas music is all about? I do not think that a Texas Artist should be given limitations on what he can do to be accepted as a Texas Artist. It does not need to be what you think is "raw" and it does not have to "make you want to dance" or "make you want to drink". It should just make you feel good about music. These statements are putting Texas music in a box. I believe Texas music should be considered out of the box , written by the person who sings it, and have an original sound like no other AKA: Ryan Turner. If you would come to one of his live shows, then you would see that what you get from his CD, is exactly what you will be getting in person. Is that what you mean about being "raw"? Although I do not prefer to listen to Nashville music, Todd Snider says it best "there is nothing wrong with Nashville". Quit being so bitter about Nashville music.

Rollin' Up My Sleeves
I went to Ryan Turner's gig in Austin about a month or two ago. My boyfriend is family with one of the guitar players in the band. The band is AWESOME. I had a blast and can't wait to see him in Houston on the 3rd! I'll definitely be there! I also have their first cd, autographed by the way, so when they are famous one day I can say I got to hang with the band! =) The cd is awesome. I listen to it all the time. Keep the great songs coming guys!

Rollin' Up My Sleeves
Ryan Turner's release, "Rollin' Up My Sleeves" packs in eleven solid tracks of quality Texas music. From upbeat to downbeat, his songwriting never falters. With strong vocals, solid footing in the tradition of country music and a forward-looking approach to the future of the genre, his songs are full-bodied and nutritious to the ears.

Indie Texas music is the best, and Ryan belongs. The great thing about TX music is there are so many different kinds of music and voices and styles, and Ryan is here to stay. His ballads are great, really moving, and he loves to rock. Check out his next live show...he really delivers! Can't wait for more.

Rollin' Up My Sleeves
This Cd is not good. I've listen to the whole thing and I only heard one song about Mexico and drinking cold beer and there were no songs about floating the river or Texas. Two, some songs made you want to dance, I don't want to dance I want to drink. Three, there was no grit, and raw good stuff. The songs were writin' too well, and his voice was too good. Making this Cd too good for Texas music. I want my music raw with a can of beer!
