Guy's songs should be required listening to many of the so called singer/songwriters of today's Texas/Red Dirt music scene. Songs are a good blend of lyrics & music - not just one or the other. Weak words or ho-hum melodies does not make for a good song. Guy is truly a talented legend.
I fell out of touch with the music scene this year, but got this as a Christmas gift.
Shockingly good, both the songs and the masterful performances.
Moved me. Will move you.
Album of the year in my book.
Just an amazing album. Just a throw back to all the great Guy Clark songs of old.
The old man has hit yet another one over the fence........
Guy Clark is the Godfather of Outlaw music. I have followed his music for at least 30 years. I haveTons of respect for his songwriting. Guy Clark is "The Man" in my humble book.
Man, Guy Clark is such an outstanding Song Writer I feel like I can't do him justice with my humble opinion. Guy helped spearhead outlaw music with no effort. He in my opinion was just being honest or just being Guy Clark. Houston,Tx. in the 70's on their biggest Rock & Roll station started what they called "Country Sunday". I heard Guy Clark sing a song he wrote about a wino and I was hooked.I have followed Guy Clark since. His songs come from experience and in my book that is what it is about. Thank You Mr. Clark
Gotta love, "She's Crazy For Leavin'."
Its as great as I knew it would be. There are just a few TRUE singer/songwriter legends Guy is one. Truely the master story teller. I hung out in a parking lot just like in his song. If you don't add this collection you must be walking singing "swing batter batter swing" then you would know great music when you heard it.
This is the best Clark album since Old #1 in my honest opinion so I have no alternative but to give it 5 stars. Songs such as Magdalene, Analog Girl, Funny Bone, and Worry B Gone are 'must-learn' songs and are individually worth the cost of the CD.
