Django is one of the nicest people I've met on this scene. I spoke with him last night at SpeakEasy's in Austin. Hope to catch him around soon. I can't imagine a bad cd coming from a good guy - so 5 stars from this angle.
Well, CCC... I dont know what show you were at, or if your just going off of someone else is opinion. If you dont think that Django has soul, someone needs to help explain the meaning to you! You could have heard a CD, or radio play, the point is your saying something and you have no idea what the hell your talking about! Any time you have an ORIGINAL thought of your own, feel free to let us know! If not, then SHUT YOUR MOUTH! Who we talking about?!?!
great CD!! Don't miss any chance to see Django live. He is a great singer, song writer and entertainer!!!
Hes no JJW but the new cd is pretty good
ok firstly, this is just another entry in the Americana parade. if you like that sorta thing, great, but it's the Bluegrass Pop to Nashvilles Country Pop, and frankly it lacks any kind of soul to it. One song in ten might sound a bit original and different. Django is obviously a Pat Green disciple with his daddy's voice, which is not a great combination. His daddy couldn't really sing either, but at least he was singing some good songs, which made up for it
Great CD. I liked the first one better, but this one still has it's high points. I can't wait to see him again live in austin.
Hey im a true beleiver that you dont say anything unless you got something nice to say! unless you are a paid critic. This singer/songwriter is still young in his career and he has already written and co-written many top hits. "Texas Sun" being one of them. Pat Green, his father, Garth Brooks and many more artists have sang that song with many more of his. I beleive in this guy and i know for a fact we will see alot more of him throughout the years. Keep on Keep'in on!
What is happening to Texas Music? I understand that Hootie and the Blowfish were behind this album, but damn, they gayed and popped it up. Django's last effort had meaningful lyrics with traditional instruments. The lyrics in this album are terrible. Especially on the track "Wake Up". Django was given a chance at the music business because of his father, and put out a great album the first time around, but with this album Django will never be big outside of Texas, or possibly in the state. Django singing, if you can call it that, is not very good on this album. Its sound more like he is talking with a rythm. If you are looking for a very poppy Hootie and the Blowfish record, buy it.
Realy showed that he belongs in the spotlignt. His song writing talent is up there with Mr. MeClure,,, Amazing.. I cant wait to see what the future has in store for this talented young artist..
I'll have to disagree with Gunch. I think this is a better record. Django is starting to cash in on some of the promise shown on Down The Road.
