I must agree with lonestarluvr. It's hard to believe this guy has chosen music as his career! His friends should sit him down and break the bad news.Seriously.I kinda feel sorry for him,but that won't make me buy his music.Sad.

Sam Baker is one of the most incredible poeple you could ever meet. This record will go down as one of the materpieces of american music!!! He will be a hero when it is all said and done...
To the guy that made the crude comments...your an idiot.
Absolute poetry...Sam has a subtle way of embracing all emotion in so few words...combined with inspired instrumentals. And his smile shines through the notes.
Incredible.. Sam Baker is truely an artist. As for the guy who thinks the album is trash, I personally have known one of the artists you mentioned all my life, and he in turn has known Sam Baker all his life, and would wholeheartedly disagree. SO until you know the man or know the history behind the raspy, poetic voice, YOU are just talking uneducated trash.
if you want to listen to stories about yourself and any number of people you see and don't see on the street of your hometown, listen to sam baker's mercy cd. it is poetry put forth in a delicate harmony of strings and a beautiful, haunting voice. sam baker plays your memories, your heart and your imagination. for weeks after getting the cd, i found myself in the driveway listening to the end of a song after a long day of work instead of dashing into the house.
it's one of those rare cd's that you carry around with you, from playing device to playing device.
i do hope he's working on the next cd.
What an awesome CD! Unbeleivable... everyone should buy this one!
Lonestarluvr - I enjoy the fact that just about every artist you listed would disagree with your opinion completely. Especially Walt Wilkins who produced Mercy. My guess is that you haven't even listened to the entire record, probably just a sound clip or two. And you obviously know nothing about the man to make the horrible statement that you do in your second sentence. It reflects more about you than it does Sam.
This has to be one of the worst albums I have ever heard. This guy sounds like a drunk on heroin as he slurs his words and makes a feeble and ultimately failed attempt at singing. Absolute trash! Save your money and spend it for real artists (like Walt Wilkins, Quincy Harper, Houston Marchman, Wade Bowen, Tommy Alverson, Sidehill Gougers, etc.) with true talent worthy of your hard earned dollars.

This is my pick for CD OF THE YEAR even though it was released in late '04. An Amazing talent that hasn't left my CD player ALL YEAR LONG.
