When Jack Ingram won the 2008 Academy of Country Music award for “Best New Male Vocalist,” thousands of people in the audience had to be smiling to themselves about that whole “new” thing. They knew the thirty-something, steel-eyed veteran accepting that trophy on that stage in Vegas had been rocking roadhouses, theaters and stadiums relentlessly since 1997, that he’d been celebrated by critics and fans of hard-core country music for more than a decade, and that as a Texas-born songwriter and performer, he’d been on the short list of next generation artists who could fill the boots of Lone Star legends like Willie and Waylon and the boys.

But the award did mean that Ingram, after trials and setbacks that would have buckled other artists, had at last matched the commercial success he’d always wanted with the integrity on which he’d always insisted. So he told the crowd with no small measure of pride and triumph that night that “big dreams and high hopes” can come true.

Now, as if to validate and amplify that truth, Ingram remains in the forefront of country music with the album Big Dreams & High Hopes, the seventh studio disc of his career and his third for Nashville maverick indie label Big Machine Records. Its eleven tracks range through the many facets of Ingram’s unique take on country music and songwriting. There’s the textured and contemplative “Seeing Stars” sung in ethereal tandem with Patty Griffin. You’ll find a couple of superb roots rocking country songs Jack wrote with compadre and mentor Radney Foster. And you’ve probably already heard the swimming hole party anthem “Barefoot and Crazy” which quickly became a radio smash and a soundtrack for the hot summer of 2009.

I was just reading through a few of the reviews and I noticed one that stated, (and I quote)... "Jack has absolutely no stage presence." I've seen Jack Ingram in concert too many times to count (literally well into the double digits), and I've seen hundreds of other concerts ranging from the likes of U2 and Soundgarden to Jerry Jeff Walker and Willie Nelson. If you think Jack doesn't have stage presence, then you've never seen "stage presence." I've absolutely loved every Jack concert I've been to and I'd do whatever it takes to see another one. He has so much energy! I've seen him at Gruene Hall, up in Oklahoma City at the Wormy Dog, and countless other places. Jack's doing what he needs to do in his career at the moment and nobody should fault him for it. He's getting his music out to a broader base of fans who have never heard of him before. I know Jack and he won't forget his old fans, but it doesn't hurt to make new ones. Keep playing COUNTRY music Jack and I'll be right there in the front row drinking a Shiner and singing along!!!

You know its sad when little punk kids like Matt can get on here and trash a legend like Jack when he has no idea what the hell he is even talking about. You know guy you may think you are cool trash talking a man and his music, but for the real music fans you look like a jackass.

I just saw his show in STEAMBOAT, Colorado at the MUSICFEST and it was INCREDIBLE! He is one of the most amazing live performers I have had the opportunity to experience! "Keep on Keepin' On" and share your music and talent with the world!

Jack is the real deal. He's a great musician and writer and he trancends what Texas Music has become. Thanks LoneStarMusic for a "NOTE" just for me.

I am dissaointed in the Live Wherever You Are, but maybe I am to blame for ordering a cd before I researched what was on it. i think it is great that he is being exposed more nationally and he'll always be one of my faves. I've been listening to him and watching his shows since '99. I saw him this summer and his show was as good as ever... FULL OF ENERGY! Good luck Jack.

I paid the $17.00 to get into Midnight Rodeo for the CD Release. I have enjoyed Jack's work in the past, but I had never seen him live. Jack's show was terrible. It sounded bad and it just wasn't a good show. Jack has absolutely no stage presence. Many of his songs sound the same. The crowd seemed to me to be about as bored as I was. The dance floor filled up for the new single, which I think is a good song. Unfortunately, I'm finding that this is indicative of many Texas artists. Jack is different, because he can write really good lyrics. However, he is the same mid-tempo,middle of the road music that this scene is full of. I was just amazed at how absolutely mediocre the show was. When I spend that kind of money, I want to see a show. I want to be floored. I walked away feeling ripped off. I didn't open the CD that came with the admission price. Maybe I can sell it un-opened. The Texas Music scene is full of mediocre bands, songs, and artists. These people that claim to walk in the path of Waylon, Willie, and Billy Joe, really need to go back and do some homework on being an entertainer. I want to hear great songs and see a great show. Jack has some songs, but no show.

I just went out and grabbed live wherever you are. I loved Live at Gruene Hall and this cd is a lot like it. Actually it's the same thing plus a couple new songs. I think it's awesome that Jack snuck into Nashville and now he's gonna show them how to make real country music. Cause he's Jack Ingram and he plays... Country Music.

If you look at Jack's new CD cover and Wade's new CD cover... I think they're looking at the same spot on the floor. Someone probably spilled something. Maybe someone will clean it up before Ray Wylie has a photo shoot for his new CD.

Casey, read the interview. He is going to come out with a studio album later this year. I have literally been listening to this CD all day. Yes it has just a few new songs but I still love it. And now more will get to hear what we down in Texas already knows kicks ass!!
