Artist Review
You'd have to be an idiot to think that dressing up some guy in a Tom Petty hat is some sort of artistic statement or represents the band in some way. I don't think anyone would tell you it was. I think it's just kind of funny and silly. It's not like I go to the shows to hear them play the record exactly like it is on my home stereo. To me, it looks like they're having fun and wouldn't YOU like to get paid to have fun? Don't let your jealousies get the best of you. What albums do you own, by the way? Phil has like 6 or 7 of them by now and no one covers as much ground as Phil does and has over the years. Mediocre, my ass. Why would you say that? Because he isn't singing about drinking beer down at ol' Gruene Hall? I've been following for about five years and I have seen him grow as a songwriter and as a performer. If you can't appreciate both independently, you need to study up on your music history. Look at the most successful bands in history and in this 'Texas Music' scene. Don't tell me they don't have something that helped them stand out-something you might call a gimmick. The freakin' Beatles were ALL gimmick when they appeared live on talk shows or on stage. That stupid Petty trick is only one of many in the P2 arsenal, but feel free to stand at the back when they play it. Just one man's opinion...

I think one star is a bit harsh, but there's no way that this a five star act. This guy can't really sing and his writing is mediocre at best, even by so-called 'Texas Music' standards. Phil plays a mean guitar, but I don't need to see some dude dressed like Tom Petty when he does his Tom Petty cover to be entertained... it does come off as kind of a gimmick. They're not bad... I'd say they're a decent opening act. But ther's way more sizzle than steak to this band. Just one man's opinion...

Anyone who thinks P2 is a gimmick act hasn't given him a fair shot by listening to the albums and the songs. Marry Me Mary? Bruising Sheetrock? Sante Fe? Those are songs most other acts can't come even close to with any of their albums. And when it comes to live, no one is any better. What you're seeing is entertainment. If you don't want entertainment, stay at home and listen to your stereo. I'd have to guess, that you haven't taken the time to dig in and really LISTEN to this artist. I imagine you're as superficial as you appear to be. All you see is the surface and you've made your judgement from that. I bet if I saw you from the surface, I'd be pretty disgusted. I hope your life gets better. Much tougher!

I always talk about whether I can feel music from the soul. I don't know chords, and I don't necesarily know the best lyrics from every song, but everything Phil plays, I feel in my soul. There are very few artists that I can say that about. Even my very favorites like Reckless and Ragweed dont have the soul in every song, but this guy does. I feel it with every note. Thanks, guys for giving the music back.

Some of you may disagree, but I just have to say that P2 is one of theabsolute best singer/songwriters out there today (not to mention a total cutie pie). Pick up an album or two and get your butt to a show. You won't regret it! : )

This is a great live album that has updated versions of old live songs, and a great choice of cover songs as well as songs that have not been released yet live. I own all albums and this one shows all sides of P2FB

Outstanding display of what you get at a live show in the CD format. The energy is there in every song!

great live album without all the polish. Hear this record and you know what you get a p2 concert. i think that they are powerful songs that continue to grow on me. Just plain excellent. Thanks
