Phil Pritchett & Full Band
Artist Review
May the pretenders beware! This record finally shows what Texas Music can be when it's done right. No party anthem cliches, just pure heart, soul and greatness. This isn't the Texas Music of frat boys and "Texas Jimmy Buffett" types, this is the Texas Music of Stevie, ZZ, Buddy, and Waylon...bold ballsy and full of purpose. Phil and the Full Band have put the guts back into Texas Music and we are the richer for it. Rock on P2.

P2 has outdone himself this time out. This album ROCKS, literally. I'd have to agree with Chad and say that it is in my top 5 of the year.

Phil Pritchett & Full Band
Artist Review
With "Tougher than the Rest," Phil Pritchett launches himself into the project of rebuilding good music. With the new release, Pritchett and the Full Band shed the titles of alt country, college bar band, or americana in search of what true artists seek...groove. With no way to lump him into any categorical box, Pritchett simply proceeds to dazzle audiences with what can only be defined as GOOD music. Earlier records were stellar, but could not quite capture the true feeling that the band exudes in each and every live performance; however, a breakthrough record has been made. Tracks like "God Save The King" and "Marry me Mary" give listeners the same "accelerator-through-the-floor-about-to-take-off" feeling one gets when they discover Springsteen's Born to Run. And as soon as you feel like the album can't get any better, you hear "...dreams" and realize again what it was like when you first discovered rock and roll. In my opinion, five-star records only come along every two or three years. They are truly the mecca of masterpieces- each note strikes a chord, each chord pushes a line, and each line a song to a feeling. With Pritchett's combination of The Full Band (Ryan Lynch and Jason Stolly) he accomplished the musical side of this goal. However, it is truly his presence as a songwriter that overtakes this phenomenal record. Writing about everything from childhood wishes to hopeful love, from chance encounters to just taking advantage of life because you're glad you're alive, Phil Pritchett proves to anyone who hears this record that he his the real deal. The last few years have seen the success of too many undeserving acts who are too quick to cash in on college crowds and soon forget the reason they started playing music to begin with. Hopefully, listeners can find Phil Pritchett pulling out of this rubble and realize once again that usic is made to heal, to help, to entertain and most of all, to groove. One of the many highlights of this record is the one and only cover on the album, Little Feat's "Willin'." The songs' story of a weary road warrior who has seen it all is hauntily echoed by Pritchett's near decade rise through the musical ranks; however, through all the fallen competition and the roadblocks and heartaches, Phil Pritchett and the Full band prove that they are still "Willin'."

Excellent CD!! I highly recommend this CD. Catchy tunes. "God Save The King" and "...dreams" have been stuck in my head since the first listen. One of my Top 10 Picks of 2002, it definately makes the list.

I just want to say that this is an unbelievable album. Phil has such a heartfelt insight in his writing. The band sounds so tight, and if you have the opportunity to see this power trio live, you will know what I mean. God Save The King is my favorite on the album. There is not a weak song on it, and it has all of that raw energy you find at one of Phil and the Full Band shows. This album kicks ass, GO BUY IT!!!

Tougher Than The Rest
Phil doesn't disappoint. Well-written lyrics and good guitar. The duet with CC is great, and "Doesn't Make a Difference" is the perfect way to start the CD.

Tougher Than The Rest
This is an absolutely AWESOME record and one that everyone should pick up! What more could be said, other than Phil Pritchett is a true Texan and it shows in his music? In this album Phil truly demonstrates that he knows how rock for the fans. There isn't a song to skip on the album, so get. Jam it in the cd player of your truck, crank it up real loud for all to enjoy.
