I have now seen him three times in the last two months and he impresses me more each time. Great songwriter and crowd pleaser. His shows are quite entertaining, to say the least. Keep him coming to Texas to play all the college towns.
These guys are the real deal!! Skys the limit....
Can't wait for the new album to come out. I hope to catch you guys some this summer but I'll definitely be at College Days when school starts back up. Keep up the ass kicking.
You've got to see this guy in concert! And if you saw him when he first started out, being on the road has impoved his act 200%!! He plays with great energy and his voice is even better in person!
In response to WormyDog McCoy. He has no reason to apologize. I came here looking to buy that live CD only to find it doesn't exist. I think people in the South get spoiled being able to see many of artists featured on LonestarMusic at the local beer joint doing covers. 6 Stars
Country music at its finest. Jason and the Stragglers kick ass and take names. By far the best live show out of Pat Green, REK etc. These guys kick ass!
Recently caught Jason and the Stragglers at Grahams in Wichita Falls. The crowd was small but the music was large. I may be a little older than most of the Stragglers fan base(40's), but their music is the way I like it. Country with an edge! So buy Pearl Snaps and catch a show, you won't be sorry.
Jason Boland and the Stragglers are a great reason to believe in music. Whether covering classics ranging from Willie Nelson to Prince or performing their own music, these guys have talent and style that is often missing from musicians today. They are real and this translates well through their music. I remember hearing about them playing in Stillwater and I anxiously awaited the day I turned 21 so I could hear what all the talk was about. (This was before the CD came out) As soon as I could, I saw them at the Wormy Dog and I was more than impressed. The music these guys can make amazes me. The guitar solos and even the occasional use of bongos are phenomenal, but do not overshadow the simplicity of the well written lyrics and heartfelt love of music. This love and talent shine through and make Jason Boland and the Stragglers a great American band.
If Bob Dylan could carry a tune, Janis Joplin were a man and Willie Nelson were young again, you'd find them all in Jason Boland. His sound is refreshingly down home and soulful; his shows carry all the passion and excitement of someone who'd play for nothing more than a bar tab; and his songs make you want to grab a beer, a couple of buddies and head down to the Wormy Dog again. If you haven't already done it, buy Pearl Snaps. If you've never caught a show, my god man, hurry up while this guy is still playing the small towns!
