Throwing Star (EPIII) is another hit for the MMB> Mike and his crew have put together another great collection of music that is distinctive and very enjoyable. This EP goes with the other two just right.
What an amazing down to earth guy Mike is. Starting out my college days @ Tarleton State University, we would always play "The Great Divide" and since that day EVERYTIME I hear Mike's voice, it brings back a sence of peace and memories of the good ole days. He's an AMAZING singer and songwriter. (LTJ Cruise he was kick ass!!!)
Dragon' Heart, Flood, and yes the dreaded Wild Flower. Forever I will be fan of the "early Mike". Folow the music and let it take you to the end of the rainbow.
Mike McClure is by far one of the greatest songwriters out there right now. The way he puts thoughts into lyrics continues to amaze me. Sometimes I feel as if he is in my head. I also want to commend him for going out on his own and leaving the Great Divide against all of the resentment. People need to understand that it had a lot to do with happiness and that is very important. As the song says, "Everything changes, baby, ain't nothing in this whole wide world ever stays the same." If you ever get the chance to see a Mike McClure Band show or a McClure acoustic I urge you to go. You will not be disappointed!
EL EP and EL EP II are two awesome cd's. Cannot wait untill the third. Live shows are great too. Definitely worth any cover charge.
I agree with Robin. Mac is the absolute best when it comes to non-cookie cutter music. You just never know what he will come out with. His EP trilogy showcases his varied and considerable talent in many kinds of music. Can't wait to get my hands on EP3. This guy will be recognized at the defining force in modern red dirt music. When you hear him, you just can't get enough.
If you like "hey, he sounds like...", then Mike is not for you. He is the most innovative and different artist out there. He always gives you something different from very soulful songs to rock your butt off sounds. Absolutly, the best out there. Get to know his stuff, he is the best!!!
I dont think there is one bad thing you can say about Mike. He has it all. His voice is amazing and his songwriting skills are incredible. Cant wait for the 3rd EP. Mike McClure is the best Oklahoma has to offer. I dont think you can leave one of his shows without being amazed. RoCk On MiKe!
