Call me slow but I just found out that Larue isn't his real last name, that he changed it to something that would gather more attention? What's up with that? That sounds too Hollywood much less too Nashville. Is this the only guy in Texas music to have changed his last name? Is it true, did he really change his name?

Stoney's voice on the first verse of track one caught my ear and I have been listening ever since. His voice has the dry scratch of Willie Nelson in those opening lyrics and I love his songwriting equally as much. Now that I have seen him live a few times I can say, without the slightest hesitation that we'll be seeing a lot more of Stoney in the years to come.
I would give Stoney LaRue 10 stars, I think he is awesome. I have seen him in concert three times, he puts on a great live show. He writes very good songs and they are true to life.
Talented but tends to be way too dramatic and oversings many of the songs. At least his voice doesn't warble when he sings, gotta give him that. God I hate that warbling....
Stoney's best stuff is live, but the cd is great.. very very talented person
Stoney LaRue is an all around badass. I love his music and people need not get lost in National Country Music.. but get lost in TX.
To all of the people who bag on Stoney (I'm guessing) have never listened to anything but a bunch of nashville, pushed down your throat rig & bich bullpoop!!!! These type of people just like what nashville tells them to like. Stoney is got to be one of the best ARTIST!!!!!, playin right now. Not only is he a great musician and singer but one hell of a guy. His band has not been together long but sound like they have been playin together for years. Bruce is one of the best drummers out there. If you've never played an instument you wouldn't understand how good you have to be to sound as good as they do in such a short time!!!! this is the best cd out right now. that's my opinion, but, I ask you to take a good listen. If you still don't like it pass it on to someone else, maybe they will get it!!!!!!
Last weekend's show with Cody Canada was tremendous! To say I got my money's worth is the biggest understatement of the year. He and Cody played for over 5 hours, way beyond Saengerhalle closing time. There was no script, just two great guys having fun and going back and forth...and having Trish Murphy do a few songs was excellant. They even threw in a few old George Straight songs too. Throw in the fact that Shannon Canada was f*cked up, you couldn't help but get the feeling that you were just hanging out with friends, playing guitar out in the garage somewhere. Keep it up Stoney!
last night's show at saengerhalle was amazing! acoustic with cody canada. can't get much closer to heaven unless i had seats closer to the stage. rock on! wish it had been recorded!! love these guys.
