The new album is the balls.... and that is a scientific fact...To blame the guy for rereleasing two songs off of the last album is pretty lame, I would imagine that there might be a few people who have missed out on Stoney since the last album was released and maybe haven't had the chance to pick it up, and why would you mind hearing Downtown and Texas Moon again anyways? In short, the Cd is a ten, it costs ten dollars in any store and I have yet to skip a track in listening to it, good job Stoney, you really rocked some Texas Balls off on this one.

Haven't heard the disc yet so I can't really review it, but I just wanted to say that it's hard for me to hear that about "Idabel Blues". It's always been one of my favorite Rangers songs and I've always enjoyed hearing Stoney do it live.

Woops, I have misquoted. Not "eight great songs".. the quote should be "eight very good songs". I apologize to Gmumm for my misquote.

Points are all well taken, gumumm. I will just add some background to the recording of this CD. This project started out as a 6 song MP for Stoney to use as a demo. For this being a demo those involved felt "Downtown" and "Texas Moon" should be recorded. After scraping together enough money for the studio time six songs were recorded including the two songs previously recorded. This MP turned out so well that several who heard it encouraged Stoney to go back into the studio and make it a full CD. So Stoney scrapes together more money for studio time and goes back to record five more songs so as to release it as a full CD. With money being a factor the recording of "Downtown" and "Texas Moon" remained on the CD. I believe I can quote you as saying this has "eight great songs". Wow, I wish every CD I bought had 8 great songs. Many times it ends up 1 or 2 great songs. No one has heard "Downtown" and "Texas Moon" as many times as I and I still think the CD is a good buy. I sure don't feel cheated if I get "eight great songs".

Alright folks, don't get me wrong just because I gave it only three stars. Hear me out. First of all the album has a slim eleven tracks. Making this even worse, however, is that fact that two of these eleven songs are recycled from Stoney's first album. Yes, I know they've been rerecorded. True enough, but they're still the same songs, only slightly altered. Couple this with the fact that I find "Idabel Blues" to be almost unbearably repetitive, and I'm left with eight very good songs. Not exactly a great value. Bottom line: If these songs are all new to you, and you have good taste in music, you'll undoubtedly love this. If, on the other hand you've heard Stoney's first CD on a regular basis like me, you'll surely still like The Red Dirt Album, but you just might find that you feel a little bit cheated.

WOW!! Love this CD! Have never been a big fan, but heard this album on Galleywinter MP3 player and have been playing it everyday since then. Should have bought two copies of this one. I am going to wear this one out for sure.
