I think the CD is okay, some of it quite good, but this is an artist review, not a CD review. I thought his live show has lacking, not the CD.
For all of yall out there that are giving bad reviews about the red dirt album, yall have apparently not sat down and truly listened to the lyrics of the songs or tried to appreciate anything that stoney is sayin. His voice is truly one of the best in the business right now and he is one hell of a guitar player as well. So for all your critics sit down and have a positive attitude about the music and actually try to understand and listen then review it again, i think it would change your mind.
I wasn't really talking about the guitar player, but now that you mention it I've heard better. Eddie Biebel (Wayne Hancock), Willie Pipkin (SAJB), Monte Montgomery, Jed Newcomb, Roger Ray (Boland)and that doesn't even include people from outside of Texas. Maybe I caught Larue on a bad night. Everybody says he is great live but I didn't see it. His CD is okay, but the live show I saw was flat, uninspiring and boring. There was a big crowd there so maybe it's just me.
Dear "Painful" you are obviously not a musician. Every musician I know is in awe of the Stoney Larue Band. You might think his voice is "average", I don't, but then again I'm just a struggling musician and you are a fan. The whole package is the absolute best.Pyeatt does things to a guitar that you can't do to a guitar and the rythm section is tight. They put on a great show and play their asses off. Listen again with somebody who plays something and rethink.
This guy is so average. If this is what Texas Music is coming to then it's day in the sun is over. Oh, and you don't miss the sun till the sun goes down. The sun is going down.
I've seen Stoney LaRue perform in concert since attending college at Oklahoma State University. Six years later, I'm still not bored. His acoustic shows will make you come back again and again wanting more!
Saw Stoney recently in Wichita and down at Hangover's Ball in OKC. Out of everyone, he is going to be bigtime.
Just saw Stoney in Wichita, KS w/ CCR. Have been wanting to check out his show for a while. I think he (and his band) was great. Unique for sure. Far scratching out.
