What the hell? This album was hyped big time, and it's just OK at best. About half the album is pretty good, (2 wonderful tunes) and the rest are throw aways. Not sure what happened here.

Charlie Robison is the best songwriter I have heard in years! I am not a country music fan, but surfing chanels I came across him hosting a show on CMT and stopped and listened to "My Hometown". I bought "Life of the Party" the next day and "Step Right Up" last week. I can't get the damn things out of my CD player! Do yourself a favor-check this guy out. I hope he gets the recogintion that he deserves.

Step Right Up
Other than Life of the Party and Unleashed, this is the best CD I've heard. Ever.

Yeah, he gave in to the Nashville influence some but alot of the songs on the new CD are pretty good. Charlie's good music is still burried in there you just got to look between the nashville bullshit to find it.

Kelly Willis let's you see her soul when you listen to her music. No commercially produced SHania can do that

This is the only album I've ever heard that can touch "Life of the Party." Charlie doesn't go Nashville a bit with this one. BUY THIS ALBUM if you have not already.

Anyone who can make a "Big Fat Drunk Hick in a pair of plaid shorts" dance a jig for 4 plus minutes is tops in my book. That was the most entertaining part of the Uprising in Houston. Except REK

I would have to disagree with the comment about the texas uprising....although Jack's show was very entertaining I would have to say Charlie Robison stole the show by far. In order I would say Charlie, Los Lobos, Jack, Rodney Hayden and Slaid Cleaves were the top five....excluding Robert Earl Keen of course. Thanks

Charlie's live show was very uninspiring. The only show I have ever been to that I left to go to the restroom and wait in line for another beer. Afterwards he was unfriendly and arrogant when signing autographs. What a way to treat the people that buy his music. Won't make the same mistake twice.
