There are Canadians that sing better Texas music than this guy. He let the people in Nashville transform him. Toss is, Charlie. It isn't working for you. You are going to lose a lot os loyal fans, and you don't want that, do you?

Great web-site Texas! Being from North Dakota, sometimes it's hard to track down some "real" music. I've found the place. Charlie Robison, Robert Earl Keen, keep up the good work. Rest assured, there are folks in other parts of the country that appreciate and understand your brand of great country music.

I was very afraid that Charlie's new CD would be watered down Nashville. I was wrong. I haven't heard all of it, but he played some songs off the Cd in his live show Friday, and they were true Charlie! This is the kind of CD that it is going to take to reclaim Nashville from the cookie cutter pretty boys that have somehow flourished.

This guy is it. Saw him live for the first time tonight, and he was bad-ass. Jumpin' around stage and stompin' as he picked the guitar. His new album is gonna take Nashville by the balls (assuming that Nashville music has balls anymore). Texas Country the True Country.

"Step Right Up" is awesome! It's different from "Life Of The Party", but that's not a bad thing. A lot of SRU is, lyrically, pretty dark - like "Loving County" from LOTP. Charlie's brother Bruce's track is one of the many highlights of the CD. So is his duet with Dixie Chick Natalie Maines - "The Wedding Song". Another highlight, apart from the hit remake of NRBQ's "I Want You Bad", is the new version of the "Bandera" track "Desparate Times". Just like in his concerts, Charlie pretty much talks the song out on SRU. The music on this version is much better too. It has more of a country feel but, at the same time, it rocks harder as well. If you can look past the borderline NashVegas-ness of the 2 NRBQ tunes on the disc - "I Want You Bad" & "It Comes To Me Naturally" - you're in good shape. I personally like both of those tunes. But it's nice to know that the rest of the CD (for the most part) is full of "classic Charlie" stuff. In short, buy it ASAP! You won't regret it!
