Saw him at Billy Bobs, and although the new CD sounds more structured Charlie still plays an amazing live show. The new songs sounded good live and the Life of the Party songs sounded as honkey tonk, beer drinking as ever. Keep up the good work and never let Nashville take over the Texas sound!!!

I have to admit that Charlie's new CD didn't appeal to me as much as Life of the Party did to me at first. But after a few times listening to Step Right Up, it sounds better and better. The Preacher, John O' Reilly & One In a Million are pure Charlie. I was afraid the new release of Desparate Times would be toned down, but that mother rocks harder than ever.Get this CD!!

The word "sellout" does not apply to this album. What commercial song have you heard that mentions "beer on my breath" or "there's some wieners and buns, when the brisket's all gone"? The story songs are here, too. The man has not gone Nashville. If Nashville comes to him (and it should), so be it. It'll do the music world some good. Hell of a CD.

Although I didn't care for the new CD too much at first. It is growing on me. I remember hearing "Life Of The Party" for the first time. Although it is much better than this new CD, it too was a little different from "Bandera". This new CD is definately much more Nashville, but it definately grows on you. I only liked two songs at first, then I went down to Gruene last weekend and caught his show, and listened to the CD all of the way back to Dallas. Give it a second chance, it grows on you. It's definately more GLITTER than ROOTS.

I am a huge "Texas" country music fan and a big "Charlie" fan. I've seen him many times in concert and is an outstanding performer. However, his new CD has maybe 2 good songs. Very dissappointing Nashville B.S.

I just so happened to be in Austin last weekend and made the short drive south to catch Charlie Friday night at Gruene hall. It reminded me of all the reasons I miss being away (working in North Carolina) from the Texas honky-tonk scene ~ what a show and what a venue. I had a chance to play ball with Charlie at SWTSU back in ‘83/’84 and from what I can tell, he hasn’t changed a bit ~ and thank God for that! Same I-don’t-give-a-f***/ I’ll do it my way attitude. Hang in there, Charlie. And, personally, I really enjoy the SRU CD. Some of the tracks are a little more polished than we’re used to, but I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing. An artist needs to branch and stretch in order to keep fresh. And hey, Charlie, remember me when you really make it big ~ I drank beer with you, man! LOLOL.

Just got hold of Charlie's new album in the UK. Excellent stuff. Good to see David Grissom is using his talents in the right sort of place too! Get over here Charlie and play the Borderline!

We picked up Charlie's new cd and listened to it all the way to Gruene Hall friday. Charlie hit the stage about 10:45 that night and never looked back. He played everything you wanted to hear. What a talented bunch of guys behind him. This guy is brite spot in a field of great talent from our wonderful state. Our hopes for him are that he gets all the recognition his long hard work deserves. See him as much as you can now, soon he will need much larger venues than Gruene Hall. Good Luck Charlie.

The simple songs that Charlie released on "Life of the Party" are the songs we love to hear over and over while drinking beer and singing along. The songs off of "Step Right Up" are the songs that make us switch to another cd. Very disappointing.
